Civics Academy 02067 class of 2023

The Town of Sharon invites offers Civics Academy 02067 – a free, seven-week series of classes where you can learn how your town government functions and how you can get involved. Each session features information about town departments, services, committees and boards which impact your lives every day.

Classes will meet  weekly and locations will include the Town Hall, Public Safety Building and Community Center.

The program includes presentations by town department heads, activities, tours of town buildings and a Q&A period.

Participants explore the topics including Town Administration, Public Safety, Town Clerk, Public Works, Police, Animal Control, Budget and Finance, Library, Health, Recreation, Veterans Services and the Adult Center/Council on Aging.

Many of the presentations given are attached at the bottom of the page.

Classes will take place at various town buildings. Please note that while all class locations are handicapped accessible, not all building tours may be completely handicapped accessible. Photographs and videos may also be taken during the Academy for uses by the town such as, but not limited to, the town website and social media pages.

Applicants should be Sharon residents who are at least 16 or older. Preference will be given to residents with no previous experience serving on town boards and committees.
