New Sharon Public Library project
The $24.3 million new Sharon Public Library being constructed at 1 School St.
The project is being funded in part with a $10.5 million debt exclusion approved by Sharon voters in May 2019, a $7.5 million grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC), $6.35 million approved by Town Meeting voters in May 2023 and an additional amount from the MBLC of approximately $774,000.
Built in 1914, the Carnegie-funded library has been an integral part of downtown Sharon for generations. Despite two additions, the building no longer accommodates the needs of the more than 18,000 residents of Sharon. The 21st century library will be one that can serve the community for many years to come.
