Accessible Voting:
February 27, 2024 by 5:00pm - Deadline to Apply for a Accessible Voting Ballot

Voters in MA who are unable to physically mark a paper ballot have the option to vote in person with the aid of our AutoMARK device, or with the aid of a human assistant.  They have also had the option to vote by mail with the aid of a human assistant.  Those options are all still available, but now there is a new option for voting remotely.  The Commonwealth of Massachusetts now offers an Accessible Ballot that allows voters who are unable to physically mark a paper ballot on their own, the ability to vote independently.

An Accessible Ballot can be emailed to a qualified individual, that will allow them to vote using their own personal technology, such as screen readers.

If you qualify for an Accessible Ballot you can request one through the following options:
       * To Apply for an Accessible Vote By-Mail Ballot Online: Click Here
       * To Download an Accessible Vote By-Mail Ballot Paper Application: Click Here

In order to receive an Accessible Ballot an email address must be provided.  People who do not qualify have accidentally requested an accessible ballot, so our office may reach out to confirm your request before sending the ballot.

Additional Information:
* Equipment Testing:
   * February 28th Starting at 9:00am.  This is a routine requirement before any election and is open to the public.

* Advance Processing:
   * March 2nd starting at 9:00am:
      Early Ballots (both By-Mail and In-Person) that have been received through Friday the 1st will be opened.  Upon completion, the ballots will be stored and locked in the Town Clerk's Vault for tabulation on Sunday.  This is open to the public.
   * March 3rd starting at 9:00am:
      Early Ballots (both By-Mail and In-Person) that have been received through Saturday the 2nd will be opened.  Those ballots will be combined with the ballots opened the previous day.  All of the opened ballots will be processed through the tabulators.  There will be no results printed and no one will know what they are.  All of the processed ballots will be locked in the vault.  The memory cards from the tabulators will then be locked in the vault until Primary Day.  This is open to the public.

      When the polls close, the results from Primary Day will be run.  Afterword, the memory cards from the advanced processing will be reinserted into the tabulators and those results will be run.  The two sets of results will then be added together to get the final results.
