Two public information sessions offered on proposed MBTA Zoning

MBTA Zoning Information Sessions

In 2020, the State of Massachusetts passed a new law, Section 3A of MGL c. 40A, requiring MBTA communities have at least one zoning district of reasonable size in which multi-family housing is permitted as of right and meets other criteria set forth in the statute.

In an effort to comply with the State law, the Sharon Planning Board and a hired consultant have spent many hours drafting new zoning bylaw language, so State funding for grants will not be lost and additional multi-family and mixed-use housing may be provided to the residents of the Town of Sharon.

A draft of the new zoning bylaw language is attached below.

Please note that the language provided is draft language and public outreach and input is desired and critically important.

The Sharon Planning Board will hold two public outreach meetings on Tuesday, Feb. 13 and Tuesday, March 12, in-person and virtually at 7 p.m. at the Sharon Community Center Ballroom, located at 219 Massapoag Ave., Sharon.
