New School Resource Officer on the job in Sharon Police Department

Giovani Valmond is the Sharon Police Department’s new school resource officer.

SRO Valmond grew up in Sharon and attended the Sharon school system. As a high school student, he watched SRO Mike Hocking and said that’s what he wanted to do when he graduated.

Giovani joined the Sharon Police Department two years ago.

Officer John Marsinelli filled in as the temporary SRO from the beginning of this school year until Officer Valmond was trained and became certified as an SRO.

Officer Tony Cadogan also filled in for two months at the end of the school year (2022-2023).

All three are National Association of School Resource Officer (NASRO) trained. Giovani is the full-time SRO. Marsinelli and Cadogan will be the department’s back-up SROs.
