MassDOT approves South Main Signalization project

There are big changes coming to South Main Street at Old Post Road and Gavins Pond Road. MassDOT has approved a signalization project, which is funded by the development team for the Sharon Gallery development.

The project includes new travel lanes, crosswalks with pedestrian-activated signals and traffic signals for South Main Street in several locations.

The signalization will help improve public safety at the busy Old Post and South Main intersection and improve safety and traffic flow for motorists coming into and out of Sharon Marketplace and Gavins Pond Road.

Follow this link or see attachment below to access the MassDOT approved signalization plan for South Main Street. It includes:

  • A summary of traffic signal improvements on South Main Street
  • Pedestrian and traffic signals at the north and southbound exits and entrances to and from I-95 (See sheets 63 and 67).
  • Pedestrian and traffic signals at Old Post Road and Sharon Marketplace (see sheet 70).
  • Pedestrian and traffic signals at South Main and Gavins Pond Road (see sheet 72).

If you have any questions regarding the project, please call the Sharon Department of Public Works at (781) 784-1525, ext. 2316.
