Open Warrant Hearing Meeting planned for May 1

The Annual Town Meeting will be held Monday, May 6 at Sharon High School. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

The Annual Town Meeting Warrant, which lists all the articles of business for voters to decide on, was mailed to residents around April 19. The warrant is also available online at www.townofsharon.net/sites/g/files/vyhlif3801/f/uploads/2024_annual_town_meeting_warrant.pdf

The Open Warrant meeting where residents can learn and ask questions about the articles coming up for a vote at Town Meeting will be held Wednesday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room at Sharon Town Hall. This is an in-person meeting. It will be broadcast live by Sharon Community Television on channel 22 and will be available for viewing on sharontv.com.

Business on the 2024 Annual Town Meeting warrant includes but is not limited to:

  • Operating budgets for the municipal and school departments.
  • Capital project including tennis and basketball courts at Deborah Sampson Park, fire engines, police cruisers, roads and sidewalks, Chromebooks and more.
  • Proposed MBTA Communities Multifamily and Mixed Use Zoning District
  • Adoption of the Specialized Stretch Code to regulate design and construction of buildings for the effective use of energy and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Modifications to the Business A district.
  • Establishment of provisions to provide for recall of elected officials.
  • Establishment of provisions to provide for removal of appointed committee members.

You need to be a registered voter to cast a vote at Town Meeting.
