Recreation Advisory Committee Mission

The Recreation Advisory Committee’s purpose is to assist, advise and support the Recreation Director, the Town Administrator and the Board of Selectmen serving as Parks Commissioner, in assessing and managing the affairs of the Town of Sharon pertaining to all forms of active and passive recreation. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Monitoring the maintenance of town recreation properties
• Advising on the planning and development of new properties, facilities and programs
• Recommending fees and charges for properties and activities supervised or controlled by the Recreation Department
• Advising on matters of general recreation policy and direction in providing recreation opportunities to town residents
• Representing the interests and special needs of all of the diverse groups and recreational activities of town residents
• Coordinating communication between outside recreation groups and the Recreation Department, and between the Recreation Department and other town boards with related interests in recreation, regarding use of facilities, improvements and program goals
