- Massachusetts Resident LTC/FID/Machine Gun Application General information for LTC and FID applicants Prior to the initiation of any process and appointment for an interview the applicant must submit the following: 1. Check or money order for $100.00 payable to "Town of Sharon Police Department" for both new and renewals. Fees are non refundable if the permit is denied. 2. If you are a new applicant, a certified firearms safety or hunter education course certificte must accompany your application. 3. If you are not a United States Citizen,or were not born in the United States, a copy of your green card or naturalization papers must be included with your application. 4. If you are seeking a LTC for employment purposes, you must submit on company letterhead, a signed letter from your employer stating the duties and need for carrying a firearm. 5. Complete the application. Answer all questions truthfully. Once all this information is received, a background check will be done. You will then be called to come in for an interview. Interviews are scheduled once a month during weekday morning hours. If you have questions, please call 781-784-1587 during normal business hours.
