Regarding coyote sightings

Coyote

There have been many reports of coyote sightings within the town over the past few weeks.

Wildlife are attracted to areas for many reasons, but the most likely reason is food. Help keep wildlife wild by not feeding them. Whether directly or indirectly, food will attract unwanted guests to our backyards and public spaces. Remove bird feeders, do not feed pets outdoors and secure trash containers.

Prevent domestic animal altercations with wildlife by keeping your cats indoors and dogs leashed and supervised while outdoors.

As a general rule, hazing coyotes and startling them with sudden noises can deter them. Effective hazing noises that can deter coyotes include shouting authoritatively, making loud and startling banging noises, and sounding sirens and alarms.
