Kennel & Dog License Information

Kennel Licenses

Kennel Licenses are required for anyone who owns four or more dogs.

  • All kennel licenses are required to pass inspection by the Animal Control Officer BEFORE a license is granted (M.G.L Ch. 140 Section 137A and 137C).  The applicant is responsible to schedule all appointments with the Animal Control Officer.
  • Due to new State and Town regulations, if you own a business that works with dogs, you may be required to purchase a kennel license.  Please contact the Animal Control Officer to inquire about these new regulations.
  • An application for a kennel license can be picked up at the Town Clerk’s Office or downloaded below.

Loss of Dog & Custody Change of Dogs

If your dog passes away, if you move out of Sharon, or if a dog that you owned changes ownership, please notify the Town Clerk's Office at 781-784-1500 x1201.
