The Sharon Substance Prevention and Resource Coalition (SSPARC) observed its 2nd anniversary in March 2016. This active coalition was established to address the ongoing drug and alcohol abuse and the increased use of opioids such as heroin in the community. This is a community wide problem and we need everyone’s help to combat this wide spread epidemic.
Just what is SSPARC? The coalition is comprised of parents, former students and community members, representatives from the schools, police, fire, COA and health departments as well as the Norfolk County DA’s office. Its mission “works to reduce the demand and use of drugs and alcohol by working collaboratively to promote and sustain a healthy community, utilizing evidence-based data to enhance education, encourage prevention, and to provide access to resources for all.”
Please join the Coalition – opioid and heroin use is not just an individual family issue, but impacts the Sharon community as a whole. Even if you can only attend one meeting or event, you will learn valuable information or perhaps share some good ideas to help us along the way.
