Recyclables & Non-Recyclables
Sharon operates a single stream program. For a list of what can and cannot be recycled, click here.
Organic Waste & Compost
Composting your food waste (along with yard waste) is a great way to reduce the trash you dispose of, and it keeps it out of the landfill, where it produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas. You can compost it yourself using a compost bin or pile. You can Purchase a Compost Bin from the Department of Public Works. Curbside household compost collection is also available from Black Earth Compost. To enroll in their service, visit Black Earth Compost. The cost for 6 months of service is $59.99
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days
The Department of Public Works coordinates Sharon's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collections. Sharon hosts two collections per year in the spring and fall. Anyone with proof of Sharon residency may attend either or both events at no charge. Participation in Town-provided trash and recycling services is not required to attend.
Special & Bulky Trash
Household clean-outs and renovations can produce bulky waste items such as appliances, and electronics. For bulky item collection, please contact Republic Services at 800-825-3260 to arrange for curbside bulky item collection. Households are limited to (2) two bulky items per month and there is a fee associated with pickup. Collection occurs on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.
The Department of Public Works also accepts bulky times for disposal/recycling. For a list of bulky items accepted by the Department of Public Works and to schedule a drop off time and payment for disposal/recycling of your bulky items, please visit: Bulky Item Drop Off
