What recreation programs, events and activities are happening in town?
The Recreation Department offers a wide variety of activities and events for people of all ages and abilities and you can find out what's happening many different ways. Seasonal brochures are mailed to all homes, information is current on our website at townofsharon.net, check the Sharon Advocate newspaper, listen to local AM1630, look for posters and flyers around town, and watch Sharon Community Cable channel 8.
How do I register for youth sports?
All youth sport groups in Sharon are volunteer run organizations not affiliated with the recreation department. Please visit their individual websites for registration information.
Can I pay with a credit card?
Not yet, hopefully soon. Make checks payable to Town of Sharon.
Can I register online for a program?
We are currently working on setting up online registrations
Will I get a confirmation letter for a program I signed up for?
No because we register thousands of people for programs each season, unless the program is being cancelled due to low enrollment or is full and you are being put on a waitlist. No news is good news, but you are welcome to call and double check that you are in the class.
How will I know if my program is cancelled due to inclement weather?
If Sharon Public Schools are closed, so are our programs. For evening activities we make determinations by 3pm and put that information on our phone system, AM1630, and website. Sometimes instructors will make their own phone calls as well.
Do I need a permit to use parks and field space?
Yes. All groups using any recreation space in town need to obtain a field use permit at the Recreation Department.
Can I ice skate on the lake?

Where can I launch a boat on the lake?
From the town boat ramp at the corner of beach and pond streets. All boats launched need to be 60 horsepower or less and you must obtain a boat permit from the Recreation Department, check with us for resident and non-resident rates. Permits are valid from June-June each year.
Can I fish at the beach?
No fishing is allowed at Memorial Park Beach, Community Center Beach, off the swim docks or boat docks-the hooks from fishing line are too dangerous for these populated areas.
