The Sharon Health Department still has a limited number of doses of BOTH H1N1 influenza vaccine (injectable) AND injectable seasonal influenza vaccine.
As long as supplies last, we will administer these to anyone age 7 and up in the Board of Health office at Town Hall (first floor) during our regular blood pressure screening hours:
Tuesdays 3-5 PM; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday mornings: 9-10:30 AM.....as long as supplies last...
The Sharon Health Department wishes to thank all the people who have worked tirelessly to help with the many flu clinics held this fall: All our nurses, our many long-time volunteers, members of Lions' Club, MRC, Civil Defense, LEPC, Linda Callan, and others who helped our clinics to run like a well-oiled machine.
Also thanks to Temple Sinai, the Community Center, and the School Department for use of the facilities.
In addition, we thank everyone seeking flu shots during this challenging season for their patience and understanding, as well as for their contributions to our donations fund...which is used to help with future health promotions.

PNEUMONIA VACCINE AVAILABLE
One of the factors contributing to deaths related to the recent H1N1 influenza outbreaks has been bacterial pneumonia. Pneumococcal disease is a leading cause of vaccine-preventable illness and death in the U.S.
This underscores the importance of pneumococcal vaccination for persons at increased risk for pneumococcal (bacterial) pneumonia. Those at increased risk for this disease are persons age 65 and older, people under age 65 with long-term health problems, such as heart or lung disease, diabetes, diseases resulting in weakened immune systems, etc.
If you are over age 65 and you have received only one dose of pneumonia vaccine....at least five years ago....a second dose is recommended.
The Sharon Health Department offers pneumonia vaccine by appointment only at Town Hall to residents age 18 and up during the following hours: Tuesdays 3-5 PM; Fridays 9-10:30 AM. There is no charge for the vaccination. For those over age 65, please bring your health insurance cards. Please call for an appointment: 781-784-1500 X206.
