If he says you need to schedule a variance hearing, call Linda Rosen at 781-784-1500 x206 to schedule a hearing before the Board of Health. Variance procedures are listed on the Board of Health website.

Where and when can I get my blood pressure and/or blood sugar checked?
At the Sharon Board of Health, 1st floor of the Town Office Building during the following regular clinic hours: Tuesday 3-5 PM; Wed.-Thurs-Fri:9 - 10:30 AM.
There are also Thursday evening hours approximately once/month.check the Board of Health website for exact dates.

Where can I call to have my property sprayed for mosquitoes?
Norfolk County Mosquito Control Project will spray areas, upon request, between late May and late September early in the morning Monday to Friday.

What do I do if I find a dead bird on my property?
The Department of Public Health (DPH)  will accept some dead birds during the summer months to be tested for West Nile Virus.  hese include bluejays, robins, and crows they must have head intact, eyes not sunken in, no flies/maggots, and must not be mutilated or look as though they've been out in the heat for a period of time. Call 1-866-627-7968 to report the dead bird.  IF the DPH wants to test the bird, it will be the homeowner's responsibility to pick up the bird and transport it to a drop-off location. Instructions will be provided by DPH.

Do you do cholesterol screening?
Periodically (generally 2-4 times a year) the Health Department offers cholesterol screening for a nominal fee. Watch our webpage, the Sharon Advocate, and Cable TV for information.

Do you do T.B. tests?
No. Please check with your physician.

When does the Board of Health meet?
The Board of Health meets at the Town Office Building on Monday nights, beginning at 7:30 PM, approximately once every two weeks.  Check the Board's website or the online Town Calendar for further information

What can I do with used needles and sharps?
Residential sharps may be disposed of at the Fire Department. See the Board of Health webpage for further information and instructions.

How can I get a flu shot ?
The Health Department offers free flu shots to Sharon residents every fall. See the Board of Health webpage at http://www.townofsharon.net for information on flu clinics. Information is posted as soon as  it becomes available.

What immunizations does the Health Department provide?
The Health Department provides a number of immunizations (free of charge)  to Sharon residents ages 7 and up.  Call the office at 781-784-1500 x206 to schedule an appointments for Tuesday afternoon between 3 and 5 PM, or Friday morning between 9 and 10:30 AM.  See the Board of Health webpage for further information on available immunizations.

What can I do to protect myself and my family from tickborne and mosquito-borne illnesses, such as Lyme Disease, West Nile Virus, and Eastern Equine Encephalitis?

How often is the lake tested?  Where can I find the results of these tests?
The Board of Health arranges to Lake Massapoag for E-Coli  twice/weekly between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  Results are posted at the Main Beach as soon as they are available. If there were an elevated count above allowable limits at either the Main Beach or the Community Center Beach, notices would be posted at the entrance to the beach(es).

Is it OK to feed the geese around the lake?
NO it is definitely NOT ok to feed the geese. Feeding the geese is harmful to the geese, the lake, and our drinking water. The Board of Health has enacted a regulation making it illegal to feed the geese from public property. The Board also urges people not to feed the geese from private property. Is it OK to smoke at the lake or at the ballfields?
NO. There is a Town Bylaw prohibiting smoking at the lake (other than in the parking area), as well as at all the ballfields and playgrounds.  

May I bring my dog to the beach?
NO.  Dogs are not allowed at the public beaches.
