PUBLIC NOTICE
TOWN OF SHARON
WATER DIVISION
HYDRANT FLUSHING AND MAINTENANCE
The Town of Sharon will be continuing an ongoing hydrant flushing program beginning April 1, 2013 through June 7, 2013. The work will be scheduled Mon. through Fri. between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 2:00 A.M. Some streets will be done during normal working hours. There will be some discoloration of water while this program is in process. This program is being carried out to maintain the water quality in Sharon.
In case of rusty water do not run your water while work is in progress. To clean your service, wait about two (2) hours after Water Division crews have left your area then run cold water from the faucet nearest your water meter. The two (2) hour wait allows any rusty water stirred up by the flushing to settle.
As a precaution, you should check your water for discoloration prior to doing any laundry. However, should you have laundry stained by rusty water, wait until the water returns to normal and wash the load again with your regular soap, weak bleach and four (4) ounces of cream of tartar. This should clean the laundry.
WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS PROGRAM MAY CAUSE. QUESTIONS CALL 1-781-784-1525 EXT. 2315.

Water use, much like electricity, has peak hours that stress the system. Sharon’s water use restrictions allow our water tanks to refill after peak demand, ensuring firefighting capability, and lessening the environmental impact of well-pumping.
When using water outdoors, make sure to repair leaks in irrigation systems and garden hoses. If garden hoses leak at the spigot, replace the nylon or rubber hose washer and ensure a tight connection to the spigot using pipe tape and a wrench.
Check your sprinkler system frequently and adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.
Note: Only ONE washer rebate per household. We will need your CREDIT CARD STATEMENT W/ NAME, ADDRESS, & PURCHASE AMOUNT (washer & toilet rebate). Rebates are for TOWN WATER USERS ONLY.
