Last week several pools of mammal biting Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) mosquitoes were found in the Town of Easton. On July 17, 2012 two more pools of mammal biting EEE mosquitoes were found at the same location in Easton.
The DPH is encouraging residents to be mindful and to take care when venturing outdoors during peak mosquito activity periods: from dusk to dawn. Although it may be difficult to do when it is hot, wearing long-sleeves, long pants and socks when outdoors will help keep mosquito's away from your skin. Applying insect repellent can also deter mosquitoes. A repellent with DEET (N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide, permathrin, picaridin (KBR3023), IR3535 or oil of lemon eucalyptus is highly recommended.
