Please be reminded that dogs and other animals are not allowed along the beaches of Lake Massapoag. Fines may be imposed for violators.
Periodically we see elevated bacteria counts at various locations around the Lake, sometimes requiring that we close areas to swimming. These elevated readings may be due to a variety of sources, including dog, (horse), and/or goose feces. In addition, parents should be reminded about proper disposal of soiled diapers; the use of swim diapers for infants; and, in general, proper hygiene.
We appreciate your cooperation. As is often said, Lake Massapoag is our most valuable natural resource ----- please help us to keep it clean and open for swimming. Thank you.
In addition, please remember that, in accordance with Town By-Laws, fines may be imposed for violation of the “pooper-scooper” bylaw throughout the town. Persons walking dogs must carry with them a device designed to dispose of dog feces, e.g., plastic bag.
Also, feeding the geese is not allowed per Town By-Law. Fines may be imposed.
Thank you for your cooperation.
