I've lost my pet; what do I do?
The first thing to do, after searching your own neighborhood, is to contact the Animal Control Department (781) 784-1513, to report the lost pet. Please leave detailed information including type of animal, name, color, sex; for cats, please describe whether long or short hair, large or small in size and temperament.
You can visit the shelter as often as you wish but should stop in at least every couple of days to make sure the animal has not been brought in. Descriptions of the same animal can vary from one person to the next, so don't rely on a phone call to always identify your pet. A photograph of your pet may be left at the Town Hall Clerk's Office for the Animal Control Officer.
The Town of Sharon Animal Control Department has additional information to assist you in locating your pet. Remember, the more effort you make, the greater the chance of finding your pet.
The most important thing to do is to prevent your pet from becoming lost. Keep your cats indoors at all times with a safety collar and ID tags and keep dogs on a leash when not inside the home and also properly tagged with a license.
