SOCIAL SERVICES & HELP FOR SHARON RESIDENTS


The Town of Sharon offers help to individuals and families, both elders and non-elders, by providing a social worker at the Council on Aging in the Sharon Adult Center (Community Center) who can assist with information and referrals for community, local, state or federal benefits,. You may contact us yourself or call us, in confidence, with concerns or questions for a friend, neighbor, or family member.
For more information about available programs, services and help available through the town and local organizations such as Gifts of Hope, HUGS (domestic violence assistance, temples and churches, Veterans Agent, Commission on Disability, etc.) as well as other human service programs, you may contact the social worker at the Adult Center and also refer to information posted here and on the general town website.

An experienced Social Worker is available by appointment to assist with information, referrals, benefits counseling, support groups, age related issues and help in finding resources including, health benefits counseling, free legal counseling (advocacy) for housing/financial or other concerns. Please call or email us for an appointment or discussion on the phone about our services for senior citizens, adults, and families.

 The center and Council also provides transportation, for medical and shopping, food pantry, cultural and pleasure trips, ethnic and general programs and activities for adults and older adults, intergenerational opportunities, and many other programs.

Socialization and leisure activities are provided at the Adult Center and the Recreation Center located in the Community Center.  Senior citizens, baby boomers, and other adults are invited to attend many of the activities in the Adult Center. Some intergenerational programs are also available in the Adult Center. A program coordinator, Marsha Books, is also available to help plan many of the programs and activities and to answer your questions about activities.

The Sharon Adult Center & Council on Aging helps provide emergency assistance or crisis intervention to elder and non-elder individuals and families from Sharon. A partial list of services includes:
